NCC introduces eleven license categories for ‘wee’ industry

The Narcotics Control Commission (NCC) has outlined eleven license categories under its framework for regulating industrial and medicinal cannabis (wee) in Ghana.
The move, according to the Commission, is to “ensure transparency, safety and accountability in the licensing regime.”
In a statement sighted byMyNewsGh, the Commission encouraged prospective applicants to use its online portal, stating that licensing spans the full value chain of cannabis-related activities.
“Apply online,” the notice directed, as it listed areas including cultivation, processing, breeding, storage, laboratory testing, and research and development.
Other categories cover transportation, import and export, sales and distribution, as well as advertising and promotion.
The Commission explained that the classification is intended to clearly define roles within the sector while maintaining oversight.
“These categories are designed to support a structured and accountable system,” it noted, urging interested parties to apply through its website or contact its offices for further information.
