CLOGSAG strike persists as FWSC consults stakeholders

The nationwide strike by the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana continues after a one-hour meeting on March 9 with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission ended without an agreement.

FWSC said it would consult other key stakeholders before the union could consider calling off the industrial action.

CLOGSAG Executive Secretary Isaac Bampoe Addo said the union is awaiting feedback from the commission.

“We are satisfied with that for now and expect feedback tomorrow. The National Executive Council has not called off the strike,” he explained, noting that the action reflects the financial challenges and low morale of workers.

The Local Government Workers Union has also joined the strike in support of CLOGSAG, emphasizing that the issue affects all workers.

Across the country, government ministries are operating at reduced capacity. CLOGSAG is calling for immediate implementation of the agreed salary structure and improved conditions of service.

Talks will continue once FWSC completes consultations.
